The population of Brazil has increased

According to the Brazilian Geographical and Statistical Institute (IBGE), Brazil reached 191,5 millions residents last July.São Paulo (11 million) continues to be the largest Brazilian city, followed by Rio de Janeiro (6,2 million), Salvador (3 million), Brasília (2,6 million), Fortaleza (2,5 million), Belo Horizonte (2,4 million), Curitiba (1,8 million), Manaus (1,7 million), Recife (1,5 million) and Belém (1,4 million), which replaces Porto Alegre in the ranking of the 10th largest Brazilian cities. Excluding the capitals, the ranking of the most populated cities remains unchanged, headed by Guarulhos-SP (1,3 million) and followed by Campinas-SP (1,1 million), São Gonçalo-RJ (991 thousand), Duque de Caxias-RJ (872 thousand) and Nova Iguaçu-RJ (865 thousand). 18% of the population (one in each five) lives in major cities of Brazil. Another interesting figure is related to the less populated city of Brazil; located in the State of São Paulo, Bora has only 837 inhabitants!
